Bandai Tamagotchi’s New Concept Store

Tamagotchi creators, Bandai, will open next month their first permanent Tamagotchi concept store in Harajuku, Tokyo. Driven mostly by Tamagotchi’s resurgence in popularity, the store marks the brand’s first permanent retail space since 2017, when they closed Tama Depa.

According to Retail Dive, the store is designed around experiential retail and highly interactive. For instance, customers can customise their virtual pets, or fill-up Tamagotchi-shaped bottles with figurines, sweets, rice balls, and snacks at their “Minitama Fill-up!” station.

Since its initial launch in 1990, Bandai has sold over 100 million Tamagotchis worldwide, and has continued to expand through new releases like Tamagotchi Plaza for Nintendo Switch and Tamagotchi Paradise.
